Candidate statement

A letter to Ontario’s pharmacy professionals

Victor Wong · Candidate for Re-election · OCP Board of Directors

Dear Peers, Friends, and Colleagues,

It has been a privilege to serve you and the public as an elected Director on the Board of the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Thank you for the trust you placed in me. I am putting my hand up to serve again, and I would be grateful for your vote.

My goals continue to be:

  1. To safeguard patient safety and continuity of care by supporting policies that prioritize effective and equitable access to high-quality pharmacy services for all Ontarians.
  2. To uphold the highest standards of professional integrity and ethics by supporting practice environments that are accountable, transparent, and free from undue influence.
  3. To ensure the safe implementation of expanded scope, and to encourage responsible innovation in pharmacy practice including new technologies and services that enhance pharmacy practice and patient care.
  4. To foster open, ongoing communication between the College and pharmacy professionals, and stronger collaboration with other health regulators and system partners.

I bring over 20 years of pharmacy and governance experience across our profession: as a community pharmacist and owner, acute care hospital practice, pharmacy operations leadership, service as Chief Administrator and Chief Examiner at PEBC, health-system consulting, and strategic partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry. I have seen pharmacy from every vantage point, including the forces that shape it; a perspective that sharpens my scrutiny of them. During my first term on the Board, I served on the Executive, Finance & Audit, and Discipline Committees, and contributed to screening committee work. My PharmD, MBA, and Master of Finance underpin this service with clinical grounding and a rigorous financial and strategic lens.

It is my hope that I may continue my contribution to the College, the pharmacy profession, and the public at large. I would be honoured to continue this work. Thank you for your consideration and your vote.

Sincerely,

Victor Wong
